BIK Writing

This is my proudest piece amongst all.  Inspired by one of my best friend in school.  “Sugar” was her family name.  She now works in a post-secondary setting and holds a doctorate degree in English literature.

Sugar

What is sugar?
I am not sure.

Everyone says you need salt in your daily life, or else you would not survive;
But I say you will be fine, as long as you have sugar in your mind.

So what is sugar then?
A Dixieland tune with an harmonized end.

Excess sugar would cause you sore, and so would salt;
Everything has a flaw, and so do laws.

Do you see sugar?
It’s everywhere.

Sugar in dessert, makes you sweet;
Salt in congee, makes you cheap.

Do you hear sugar?
It’s everywhere.

Sugar gives you strength;
Salt forces you to drink.

What does sugar look like?
Tiny, but white and bright.

Sugar gains you colours;
Salt keeps you regular.

So what exactly does sugar represent?
Happiness and love among truthful friends.

If you want to have a boring life, just bear salt in your mind;
But I would rather die, if I cannot have sugar in my time.
